Qualified Life Coach - Certified Life Coach - Sharon Teitelbaum, MassachusettsLife Coach Sharon Teitelbaum is certified as a Master Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation. She trained at Coach University, and has been a coach since 1995.
Coach Certification and TrainingSince 2006 I’ve held the designation of Master Certified Coach (MCC), the highest designation for coaches that the International Coach Federation (ICF) grants. I was originally certified as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) in 1999, during the first large-scale rollout of certifications by the ICF, www.coachfederation.org. In 2000, I completed the 2-year coach training program at Coach University, the largest and oldest coach training program in the world. I have been a professional coach since 1995 and have coached hundreds of people. My Mentor CoachesI have been mentor-coached by three well-known and and highly regarded coaches: Shirley Anderson, Jay Perry, and Jodi Jan Shafer. Professional MembershipsI’ve been a member of the International Coach Federation since 1997 and have been an active member of the New England chapter of ICF, serving on its program committee for several years. I’m also a member of the Career Counselor’s Consortium (CCC) Northeast and a past member of The Association of Career Professionals (ACP). I have done ongoing professional development through these and other organizations. I have also done additioanal training in career management, personal effectiveness, gender issues, personal growth, and spirituality. University EducationI have a B.A. from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and an M.A. from Boston University in Boston, MA, both degrees in English and American Literature. Pre-Coaching ExperienceIn my professional work prior to becoming a coach, I taught English as s Second Language (ESL) and writing at Boston University, and later became a training and educational specialist at The Polaroid Corporation, as part of their training and education group. While in that position I made a career change into database work, initially working with my department’s training data, and eventually creating databases for other internal training and education groups as well. I left Polaroid to pursue a career as a database developer, and after working freelance for several years, became a permanent employee for my best client, Abt Associates, a consulting firm in Cambridge, MA, who made a position for me as a systems analyst. In all, my technical career lasted about 10 years. While at Abt Associates, I “teched out” and left the field. Through a long and difficult career change process (without a coach), I found my way to coaching. Like many coaches, I stumbled upon the field of coaching (I met my first coach in 1995), and recognized it as the work I wanted to do. It has been a very good fit for me: I love this work. Life ExperienceIn addition to all of the above, I also bring rich life experience to my coaching. I’ve been married for over 30 years to the same good man. We have two young adult daughters in nearby states, a great son-in-law, and a grand-dog. I used to sing in an a capella group but am focusing my creative energy in other directions currently. I cycle, cross-country ski, go to the gym, and recently lost 10 pounds (and oh, that was hard). Questions? email me. Next StepsIf you think working with me could make a difference for you, let’s meet for an initial phone conversation or an in-person meeting in the Boston area, and let's see if we click.
